Polymer Clay Modeling w / Carole

Ages: 8-on up.
You will have fun in this modeling class. Use your imagination to make little critters, small animals, small figures and many other interesting items. This clay is non toxic, pliable and versatile. It hardens in oven and can be painted and cured. No expensive tools required, toothpicks, found objects, kitchen utensils can be used.

This class will teach basic drawing concepts. Learn how to build characters from basic shapes. Learn how to draw comics, and use the storyboard technique to make your own comic book.

Creating & Communicating w/ Open Source

This course will focus on open source art programs such as Inkscape and The Gimp and will also provide basic instruction in open source publishing and web page creation. At the end of the course students will be comfortable creating art, processing photos, and doing page layout with free and open source tools. Basic use of the Linux desktop and file managers will also be taught.
Presenter: Alex Roston - Alex Roston is the owner of Clover Computing. He is a aystems adminstrator and programmer who previously created a Linux based computer kiosk system for hotels and coffee houses, including an authentication client and server for his kiosks.

Operating System Concepts
(8 Saturdays) - 3 hours - lectures / labs

This class will teach operating system concepts via the freely available Linux operating system. The course will cover general operating system concepts, system installation and configuration, software services, standard Linux/Unix utilities, use of the command line, and BASH programming.
